Study description
A species associated with sandy soils, fruiting under both conifers and deciduous trees, with a hazel-brown, fibrillose cap having a smooth center, and caulocystidia extending down to the mid-stipe.
Pileipellis composed of parallelly arranged hyphae, 3-9 µm wide, with yellowish-brown intracellular pigment and abundant brown surface incrustations, septate and clamped.
Caulocystidia reaching down to the middle of the stipe, morphologically identical to the cheilocystidia.
Cheilocystidia fusiform to lageniform, 45-80 µm long and 10-21 µm wide, with walls only 1.5-2 µm thick, and apical crystallizations.
Pleurocystidia similar in morphology and dimensions to cheilocystidia.
Basidia cylindric-clavate, 30-35 µm long and 8-10 µm wide, with basal clamps, 4-spored.
Spores ellipsoidal, smooth- and thick-walled, yellowish-brown under the microscope, with a minute eccentric apiculus at one end, containing internal oil guttules, indextrinoid in Melzer's reagent.
Herbarium material available: JTP2232/24.
