(Pers.) Fr.

Study description
A species characterized by its brick-red color with orange growing margins.
Anamorph in nature with a Nodulisporium-like conidiogenous structure, with very slightly rugose conidiophores, only 2-3 µm wide, with faint yellowish intracellular pigment.
Conidia ellipsoidal, with one end more pointed, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, very pale yellow in water under the microscope, with homogeneous content.
Asci cylindrical, uniseriate, 8-spored, up to 180 µm long and 6-9 µm wide, with all spores concentrated in the upper part of the ascus, with an amyloid apical disc in Melzer's reagent.
Paraphyses abundant, filiform, hyaline, without swellings, sparsely septate, only 2-3 µm wide.
Ascospores ellipsoidal, flattened on one side (inequilateral), brown under the microscope, with an inconspicuous straight germ slit and a perispore dehiscent in KOH.
Herbarium material available: JTP2334/24 and 2493/25.
