Hypochnicium geogenium
(Bres.) J.Erikss.

Study description
On decaying wood on the ground of both conifers and broadleaf trees (currently Neohypochnicium geogenium according to Index Fungorum, though not universally recognised by GBIF), with completely resupinate basidiomes, tightly adherent to the substrate, smooth to slightly rugose surface, whitish to cream, and a well-defined white margin.
Monomitic hyphal system, composed exclusively of filamentous, smooth, hyaline generative hyphae with thin to moderately thickened walls, 3.5–4.5 µm wide, septate and with clamp connections at the septa.
Cystidia scattered leptocystidia, cylindrical, smooth, large, measuring 100–135 µm long by 7–8 µm wide, conspicuously emergent and projecting far above the basidia.
Basidia cylindrical-clavate, slightly sinuous, 20–26 µm long by 4.5–5.5 µm wide, with basal clamps, 4-spored.
Spores ellipsoidal, smooth, hyaline, thin- to moderately thick-walled, measuring 5.5–7 µm long by 4–5.5 µm wide, usually with a large central oil droplet inside, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Herbarium material available: JTP2807/26.
