(Kalchbr.) Sacc.

Microscopía de Hygrophorus capreolarius

Study description

A species associated with Picea in alpine habitats, resembling a pine spike (Chroogomphus), but with a white spore print.

Pileipellis composed of filamentous, thin-walled hyphae arranged more or less parallelly to slightly interwoven, the outermost slightly separated by gelification, 2.5-5 µm wide, with occasional branching, many with abundant encrusting reddish-brown intracellular pigment, septate with clamp connections at the septa.

Gill edge homomorphic, without differentiated cystidia.

Basidia cylindric-clavate, 35-50 µm long and 6-7 µm wide, with basal clamps, 4-spored.

Spores ellipsoidal, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, with an inconspicuous slightly eccentric apiculus at one end, faint vacuolar internal content, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
