Hebeloma crustuliniforme
(Bull.) Quél.

Study description
A common species with a solid stipe and an intense raw potato odor.
Suprapellis with a layer of slender hyphae, 2-5 µm wide, widely separated by gelification, clamped; beneath this layer lie broader cylindrical hyphae with short septa and yellowish-brown intracellular pigment inside.
Cheilocystidia cylindrical, sinuous, widened at the apex (subcapitate), 40-80 µm long and 7-12 µm wide.
Basidia cylindric-clavate, 30-40 µm long and 8-10 µm wide, with basal clamps, 4-spored.
Spores ellipsoidal to amygdaliform, thick-walled and slightly verrucose, yellowish-brown under the microscope, with darker warts, an eccentric apiculus at one end, moderately dextrinoid in Melzer's reagent.
Based on macroscopic characters, this collection with its remarkably long stipe would correspond to Hebeloma crustuliniforme var. longicaudum (considered by some Hebeloma longicaudum), both currently synonymized with Hebeloma crustuliniforme.
