Granulobasidium vellereum
(Ellis & Cragin) Jülich

Study description
Monomitic hyphal system, with only generative hyphae with slightly thickened walls, hyaline, 3-4 µm wide, with abundant right-angled branching, septate and with clamp connections at the septa.
Ovoid chlamydospores present, thick-walled and double-walled, formed in the subhymenium from clamped hyphae, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Basidia cylindrical to very slightly clavate, containing internal granulations that darken and become very evident in Melzer's reagent, up to 60 µm long, with basal clamps, 4-spored.
Basidiospores spherical, verrucose-walled, hyaline, with a very subtle, almost imperceptible apiculus, vacuolar internal content, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Herbarium material available: JTP2311/24.
