Medullary excipulum of textura intricata, with densely interwoven hyaline filamentous hyphae.

Ectal excipulum of textura globosa-angularis, with thick-walled hyphae containing faint brown intracellular pigment.

External hairs in fascicles, thick-walled, septate, with abundant brown intracellular pigment.

Asci cylindrical, uniseriate, operculate, 8-spored, inamyloid in iodine reagents.

Paraphyses filiform, smooth, hyaline, septate, with only very slight apical widening, projecting very little above the asci.

Ascospores ellipsoidal, smooth, hyaline, moderately thick-walled, mostly with two large oil guttules and smaller scattered droplets.
