Pat.

Study description
A Ganoderma strictly confined to conifer wood, especially fir, collected here on an Abies alba trunk.
Trimitic hyphal system, with very thick-walled skeletal hyphae predominant in the context (5 to 7 µm wide, sparingly branched, aseptate), thin-walled clamped generative hyphae (3 to 5.5 µm wide), and thick-walled richly branched binding hyphae.
A distinctive laccate crust coats the entire pileus surface.
Cystidia and other sterile hymenial elements absent.
Basidia cylindrical, up to 25 µm long, with basal clamp connections, 4-spored.
Spores ellipsoidal, with a tapered apex, double-walled, yellowish-brown under the microscope, punctate with darker surface dots, with a large internal lipid guttule, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent.
Herbarium material available: JTP2565/25.
