Cribraria vulgaris
Schrad., 1797

Study description
Peridium simple, yellowish-brown under the microscope, partially evanescent, persisting basally as a calyculus up to one-third the height of the sporotheca, the remainder forming a peridial net of irregular yellow nodes connected by very slender threads, with abundant calcium granules up to 1.5 µm in the nodes.
Capillitium and columella absent.
Spores subglobose, pale yellow under the microscope, minutely verrucose. A distinctive feature separating Cribraria vulgaris from related species is that upon collapsing, spores acquire polygonal to star-shaped outlines.
Herbarium material available: JTP2093/24.
