Cortinarius semisanguineus
(Fr.) Gillet

Study description
Filamentous pileipellis, with an outer layer of compacted hyphae, arranged parallel with ochraceous intracellular pigment and abundant darker encrustations, 3 to 8 µm wide. Below this, much broader, less pigmented hyphae with short cells.
Abundant sterile cells on the lamellar edge, cylindrical to pyriform, with basal clamp connections, septate and shorter than the basidia (terminal cell up to 20 µm long).
Basidia cylindrical, up to 33 µm long, with basal clamp connections, 4-spored.
Spores ovoid to short ellipsoidal, thick- and slightly verrucose-walled, yellow under the microscope, with moderately coarse darker warts, an inconspicuous slightly eccentric apiculus, and weakly to moderately dextrinoid in Melzer's reagent.
Herbarium material available: JTP2270/24.
