Cortinarius obtusus
(Fr.) Fr.

Study description
Suprapellis formed by a thin layer of filamentous, parallel, heavily pigmented hyphae; below this, more hyaline, broad, almost cellular hyphae in which occasional minute clamp connections can be seen. Stipitipellis formed by parallel, hyaline, clamped hyphae.
Lamellar edge with some sterile terminal elements, like very fine cylindrical hairs, also some vesiculose terminal cells, though none clearly differentiated from basidia and basidioles.
Basidia cylindric-clavate, up to 30 µm long, with basal clamp connections, 4-spored.
Spores ellipsoidal to amygdaliform, verrucose-walled, yellow under the microscope with darker warts, an eccentric apiculus at one end, and markedly dextrinoid in Melzer's reagent.
