Coniophora arida

Monomitic hyphal system, consisting only of smooth generative hyphae with slight brown intracellular pigment, up to 4 µm wide, without clamp connections.

Cystidia absent.

Basidia cylindrical, sinuous, very long (up to 85 µm), without basal clamp connections, 4-spored.

Spores ovoid to short ellipsoidal, smooth, thick-walled, brown under the microscope, with moderate to strong dextrinoid reaction in Melzer's reagent.
