Claussenomyces prasinulus
(P.Karst.) Korf & Abawi

Study description
Medullary excipular hyphae of textura intricata, and ectal excipular hyphae of textura globosa.
Asci 8-spored, clavate, biseriate, without apparent reaction of their apical apparatus in Melzer's reagent (inamyloid).
Paraphyses filiform, very slender (less than 2 µm wide), with abundant granular intracellular pigment responsible for their characteristic colour.
Ascospores cylindrical to slightly curved (allantoid), hyaline, smooth, thin-walled, mature spores with 1 to 3 septa (these septa more visible in Melzer's reagent), containing oil droplets inside.
This species usually presents its anamorph near its teleomorph stage; this anamorph corresponds to synnemata known as Dendrostilbella prasinula, which produce very small, ellipsoid, smooth, thin-walled conidia.
Herbarium material available: JTP2324/24.
