Calycina vulgaris
(Fr.) Baral

Study description
Outer part formed by a palisade of hyphae arranged in parallel, beneath which lie short, thick-walled hyphae of textura globoso-angularis.
Marginal hyphae narrower and filamentous.
Asci 8-spored, without observed croziers, without apparent reaction of the apical apparatus in Melzer's reagent or in Lugol's solution; in preparations pre-treated with KOH and Lugol, a dextrinoid reaction is observed in the lower half of the ascus.
Paraphyses virtually absent or very scarce, filiform, not protruding above the level of the asci.
Ascospores hyaline, cylindrical, somewhat allantoid, smooth or with some slightly darker guttules at the ends.
Herbarium material available: JTP2014/23.
