Blastenia ferruginea
(Huds.) A.Massal.

Study description
Asci subcylindrical to clavate, 8-spored, biseriate to irregular, with amyloid reaction in Melzer's reagent.
Paraphyses filiform, hyaline, slender (up to only 3 µm wide), generally simple or only slightly branched at the apex, covered with orange-brown granules that react intensely purplish in KOH.
Ascospores ellipsoidal, smooth, polarilocular, with two polar locules separated by a central septum occupying almost half the total spore length, inamyloid in Melzer's reagent; in KOH the central septum becomes more visible.
