Asterostroma medium

Hyphal system monomitic, with only generative hyphae, devoid of clamp connections.

Asterosetae large, thick-walled, brown and with up to 5 or 6 rays; asterohyphidia somewhat more hyaline and smaller.

Cystidia virtually absent.

Basidia cylindrical to clavate, without clamp connections at their base, 4-spored.

Spores strongly nodulose, spherical, with vacuolar content inside, amyloid in Melzer's reagent.
