Study description
On branches of Genista scorpius still attached to the shrub, with blackish pycnidia, visible only under a magnifying lens.
Thyrothecia between 150 and 250 µm, blackish-brown, with a central pore or ostiole up to 20 µm.
Hyphae of the outer excipulum or peridium of textura angularis, thick-walled, 8 to 14 µm long, 4 to 8 µm wide, wall thickness 1 to 1.5 µm, with abundant brown intracellular pigment.
Asci clavate, 8-spored, biseriate, thin-walled, 60 to 75 µm long, 9 to 14 µm wide, without any apparent reaction to iodine (Melzer's reagent, IKI or Lugol's solution).
Interascal matter in the form of filamentous, cylindrical, hyaline pseudoparaphyses, 1.5 to 3 µm wide.
Ascospores ellipsoidal, with a distinct central septum, one cell slightly larger than the other, constricted at the septum, 13 to 20 µm long, 6.5 to 8.5 µm wide, with brown intracellular pigment, and without reaction in Melzer's reagent.
