Peridium single, evanescent, translucent.
Capillitium tubular, firmly attached to the calyculus, branched, ornamented with distinct teeth or spaced coarse cogs and spines.
Spores globose, colourless under the microscope, smooth to minutely verruculose, with clusters of much more prominent warts.
