Anthracobia macrocystis
(Cooke) Boud.

Study description
Species typical of burnt ground or bonfire remnants, with orange apothecia measuring 2 to 4 mm, forming dense clusters on the soil.
Outer excipulum formed by 2 or 3 short, broad cells resembling rudimentary hairs, with brown intracellular pigment, 25 to 50 µm long, 10 to 15 µm wide.
Ectal excipulum with globose to pyriform hyphae, 40 to 60 µm in diameter.
Asci 8-spored, uniseriate, 150 to 170 µm long, 11 to 15 µm wide, operculate and without any reaction to Melzer's reagent (inamyloid).
Paraphyses filiform, progressively widened, with orange intracellular pigment, up to 180 µm long, 6 to 9 µm wide at the apex, staining dark greyish-green in Melzer's reagent, and slightly protruding above the level of the asci.
Ascospores ellipsoidal, with two large vacuoles inside, smooth-walled, 14 to 16 µm long, 7 to 8.5 µm wide.
