(Schwein.) Mugambi & Huhndorf

Study description
Hysterothecia elongated, black with a carbonaceous appearance, 0.3 to 1 mm long, 0.2 to 0.3 mm wide, with a longitudinal slit that opens to release the spores, appearing gregarious but massive on decaying debarked wood.
Asci cylindrical, 8-spored, bitunicate, 43 to 65 µm long, 5 to 8 µm wide, with spore arrangement in the ascus biseriate to irregular.
Pseudoparaphyses filamentous, very slender, 0.5 to 0.8 µm thick, hyaline, simple to branched, slightly anastomosed at the apex forming a hyaline, evanescent epithecium.
Ascospores ellipsoidal to fusiform, hyaline, smooth, thin-walled, two-celled, with rounded apices, upper cell broader than the lower one, strongly constricted at the septum, 6.7 to 9.6 µm long and 2.9 to 4.3 µm wide.
