Alyxoria varia

Thallus scarce, whitish, not reacting with KOH.

Ascomata with 8-spored asci, filiform paraphyses, branched with an amorphous dark mass at the apex; like most lichens, this hymenium does not react with KOH, nor with Melzer's reagent, and no reaction is observed with Lugol's solution after pre-treatment with KOH for 30 minutes.

Ascospores fusiform, predominantly 5-septate, constricted at the septa, with a very regular mucilaginous sheath around the entire perimeter.
