Discoid apothecia, very small, with a diameter of only 0.7 to 1.4 mm., whitish in color with more intense greenish-blue tones at the margin, emerging from a piece of decaying deciduous wood, preferably Quercus or Corylus.
Marginal hairs fine, cylindrical, measuring 130 to 240 µm in length and 3 µm in width, containing abundant blue-green intracellular pigment.
Medullary exciple with an intricate textura, consisting of irregularly and disorderly arranged hyphae measuring 2 to 3.5 µm in width.
Ectal exciple with an intricate textura tending to prismatic, composed of hyphae measuring 8 to 15 µm in length and 6 to 10 µm in width.
Asci octosporic, inoperculate, clavate, up to 120 µm in length and 9 to 12 µm in width, with basal croziers, and exhibiting an amyloid reaction of their minute apical apparatus in Melzer's reagent.
Paraphyses very abundant, fine and filiform, measuring only 2 to 3 µm in width, and not extending above the level of the asci.
Ascospores cylindrical with thin walls, one end more tapered, containing refringent granular contents internally, measuring 35–67 × 3.5–5.5 µm according to the consulted authors.
