Aecidium ranunculi

Fruiting bodies arranged in clusters, with grouped apothecia that are orange with a white margin.

On living leaves of Ranunculus sp.

The wall of the aecia is composed of hyphae with a prismatic texture and very thick walls, measuring 23–35 μm in length and 15–25 μm in width, with a wall thickness ranging from 2 to 5 μm.

Aeciospores are subglobose to slightly prismatic, thick-walled, the wall being more conspicuous when stained with Cresyl blue (Cotton Blue), containing numerous fine, strongly pigmented granulations internally; in this study, measurements of these aeciospores were (17.1) 19.1–23.7 (24.8) × (14.5) 16.3–21.4 (23.5) μm.
