Pseudoplectania nigrella
(Pers.) Fuckel

Study description
Species restricted to Picea abies forests in both Europe and North America. It usually fruits on soil among needles or on wood. Similar to Pseudoplectania melaena, but distinguished by its habitat, smaller size, paraphyses not curved at the apex, and undulate hairs.
A rare species in our region, found only in Picea plantations between late winter and early spring. The collection studied was made in late March in a mature plantation of Picea abies in Urkabustaiz (Álava), on mossy ground over needles.
