Otidea alutacea
(Pers.) Massee

Study description
This species is characterized by an apothecium that can reach up to 5 cm in height, cup-shaped (cupulate), sessile or with a small pseudostipe. Both the hymenium and the outer surface are smooth, with an ochre, cream, or greyish coloration, and more brownish or darker tones in the inner zone.
It exhibits a broad ecology, as it can be found in broadleaf forests as well as, more rarely, under conifers, from summer through late winter.
The microscopic images correspond to two different collections: one in the Biscayan locality of Orduña under Quercus ilex in December, and the other in Zamudio (Bizkaia) around similar dates and under Quercus robur. An earlier photograph from Urdiain (Navarre) under Quercus robur taken in September is also included.
