Onygena corvina
Alb. & Schwein.

Study description
This is a small matchstick-like ascomycete consisting of a long sterile stipe that can reach 1 cm in length and a globose fertile head barely reaching 2 to 3 mm in diameter.
A species that typically develops on animal hair, wool, or feathers of various birds. Onygena equina is macroscopically indistinguishable from it, but the latter grows exclusively on hooves, bones, or horns of dead animals and, microscopically, features larger spores (between 8 and 9 µm).
The specimens studied in this work were collected in late November, growing on very damp remnants of sheep wool in the locality of Orduña (Bizkaia).
