Mycena chlorantha

(Fr.) P.Kumm.

Microscopía de Mycena chlorantha

Study description

A species of Mycena with a pileus up to 25 mm in diameter. The pileus is striate, hygrophanous, with variable coloration ranging from olive-green or brownish green to more yellowish or greyish tones.

It is a rare but widely distributed fungus associated with various grasses of the family Poaceae, both in coastal dunes and inland areas. In our case, we observed it in several locations, always fruiting in groups at the base of giant feather grass (Celtica gigantea).

The macro- and microscopic photographs correspond to several collections made in mid-November in the localities of Brieva and Ávila (Ávila province), where this species proves common in the aforementioned habitat.
