Morchella dunalii
Boud., 1887

Study description
It is a medium-sized species of Morchella, reaching up to approximately 12 cm in height. Its cap (mitre) is initially whitish or beige, turning greyish-blackish and finally greyish-brown with black ridges.
It features thick longitudinal primary ridges that are usually anastomosed. At maturity, their darkening contrasts with the colour of the pits (alveoli), which are usually paler.
A typical species of basic holm oak forests in early spring, which can also grow in other habitats such as Mediterranean pine forests or coastal dunes.
The specimens in this study come from several locations in basic holm oak forests, found between the months of March and April in the Merindad de Tierra Estella area (Navarre).
