Mallocybe arenaria
(Bon) Matheny & Esteve-Rav.

Study description
A species formerly known as Inocybe agardhii var. arenaria, later considered an independent taxon and subsequently recombined into the genus Mallocybe.
The pileus rarely reaches 4 cm in diameter, with color ranging from ochre to brownish, and slightly fibrillose.
It is virtually indistinguishable from M. agardhii, from which it is separated almost exclusively by its habitat: sandy soils of coastal dunes near Salix spp. or Cistus spp. in the case of arenaria, versus wet areas or peat bogs with Salix spp. for agardhii.
The specimens studied microscopically were found in mid-March in the dunes of Piélagos (Cantabria), growing under Salix sp.
