Leucocoprinus cygneus
(J.E.Lange) Bon

Study description
A small and graceful species with a pileus rarely exceeding 2 cm in diameter. The cap is felted to squamulose, pure white, at most showing very faint, barely perceptible ochraceous or orange tints at the central disc.
The stipe is concolorous with the cap, white, fragile, and brittle, provided with a persistent membranous annulus.
Regarding microscopic features, notable characters include its small spores (averaging 5 to 6 µm) and their dextrinoid reaction in Melzer's reagent.
A rare and seldom-recorded species with a diverse range of habitats, occurring in humus-rich natural forests as well as in parks, gardens, or glasshouses.
The only time I have observed and studied this species was in October in Mungia (Bizkaia), fruiting in a damp, grassy area under Quercus robur.
