Hymenotorrendiella eucalypti
(Berk.) P.R.Johnst., Baral & R.Galán

Study description
A minute ascomycete found growing strictly on decaying fallen phyllodes and leaves of Acacia melanoxylon. Its tiny dimensions (barely reaching 2 mm in the most developed specimens), the long stiff hairs protruding from the ascoma, and its highly specific host association make it unmistakable.
It is likely more widespread than published records suggest, but its diminutive size causes it to be overlooked in the field unless acacia leaf litter is inspected with a hand lens.
Specimens examined in this microscopic study were collected in March on leaves of Acacia melanoxylon in Muskiz (Bizkaia).
