Hemileccinum depilatum
(Redeuilh) Šutara

Study description
A rare and infrequently documented bolete, largely due to its restricted ecological requirements: it occurs strictly on basic soils, typically under Carpinus or Corylus.
The pileus can reach up to 15 cm in diameter at maturity and typically develops characteristic hammered, pitted, or dimpled rugosities across its surface.
The flesh is yellowish and unchanging when cut, and the stipe base emits a distinct odor of iodine.
The images and microscopic study correspond to two collections made in the same area in July and September on calcareous soil under Corylus avellana in Amurrio (Álava).
