Glomus microcarpum
Tul. & C.Tul.

Study description
A semi-hypogeous fungus belonging to the Glomeromycetes. These species are characterized by producing spores (chlamydospores) that arise from a terminal hypha.
Within this genus, this species is the most common and is distinguished by possessing the smallest spores, measuring up to 50 µm. The sporocarps barely reach 1 cm in diameter in mature specimens, with a whitish peridium that develops yellowish-brown tones upon handling or with age.
The specimens for this study were collected in July along a stream margin under Alnus glutinosa and Salix atrocinerea in Orozko (Bizkaia).
