Geoscypha tenacella
(Sacc.) Van Vooren

Study description
This is a strictly pyrophilous species, found exclusively in previously burned areas. Its size of approximately 4 cm maximum and its coloration make it easily identifiable. It has, however, a lookalike in Geoscypha violacea, which differs microscopically as the latter possesses smooth ascospores, unlike Geoscypha tenacella which has finely verrucose spores.
The microscopic study in this work is based on a collection from a burned eucalyptus area in the municipality of Sopela (Bizkaia) in February, along with a photograph of another collection from a picnic area on charred debris in Zeanuri (Bizkaia) in May.
