Discina martinii
(Donadini & Astier) Donadini & Astier

Study description
Ascomycete with an apothecium that can reach up to 6 cm in diameter. The hymenium is brown or reddish-brown, while the excipulum contrasts sharply with it, presenting whitish or pale greyish colourations; it is furfuraceous and occasionally lacunose.
It possesses a pseudostipe that can measure up to 2 cm, which is immersed in the substrate from which the ascoma emerges.
An uncommon species appearing in spring, on wood of various species, primarily Fagus sylvatica, in medium and high mountain areas.
The studied specimen was found and kindly provided by Antonio Palazón, growing on heavily decayed wood, possibly of Fagus sylvatica, in the town of Jaca (Huesca) in mid-April.
