Daleomyces petersii
(Berk.) Van Vooren

Study description
A recently recombined species from the genus Peziza found exclusively in burned areas. It can reach up to approximately 8 cm across, with coloration ranging from brown to reddish, more or less pale, with pinkish flushes.
Several pyrophilous Peziza species might be confused with it, requiring careful attention to spore morphology and ornamentation: fine warts and apiculate polar appendages help ensure accurate identification.
The specimens studied were found in late December in an area of recent campfires in the municipality of Orduña (Bizkaia).
