Cyclocybe erebia
(Fr.) Vizzini & Matheny

Study description
An uncommon species fruiting from summer to autumn in humid broadleaf forests. Its dark coloration for the genus (hence erebia) and distinct ring provide key clues.
Despite its rarity, we have been fortunate enough to observe it on three occasions in different locations, always in Fagaceae forests on limestone soils.
The microscopic study presented here is based on a collection made in Zigoitia (Álava) in June under Quercus faginea and Acer campestre. Two additional macroscopic photographs are included from collections in Baztan (Navarre) and Orduña (Bizkaia), both under Fagus sylvatica in August and September, respectively.
