Capitotricha bicolor
(Bull.) Baral

Study description
Capitotricha bicolor is an attractive, minute ascomycete (1–2 mm in diameter) growing on fallen twigs and woody debris of broadleaf shrubs and trees. Its long white marginal hairs contrast sharply with the vivid yellow hymenium, making it very photogenic.
Under the microscope, its lanceolate paraphyses (which previously placed it in Lachnum) and coarsely encrusted hairs are particularly diagnostic.
The collection studied was found in June 2022 on a small branch of an unidentified shrub along a riverbank in Ubide (Bizkaia).
