Caloscypha fulgens
(Pers.) Boud.

Study description
A beautiful ascomycete that usually appears in early spring, especially in Abies and Picea forests, although occasionally found much less frequently in other habitats. Its cup shape up to 4 cm in diameter and its yellow to orange hymenial color, with bluish-green tones on the outer surface that intensify upon handling, make it unmistakable.
The photographs and microscopy of this study are from two collections made in April in the Huesca Pyrenees, in Villanúa and Aragüés del Puerto, the latter courtesy of our friend Antonio Palazón. Both in humid areas in silver fir (Abies alba) forests.
