Aleuria cestrica

(Ellis & Everh.) Seaver

Microscopía de Aleuria cestrica

Study description

Aleuria cestrica is a small and poorly known ascomycete under 2 cm in diameter. It usually grows in damp areas on bare soil. Ascomata are bright yellow or citrine yellow, more or less pale depending on moisture.

Very similar to Aleuria luteonitens, but the latter has larger spores and more interconnected spines that can form an incomplete reticulum.

Microscopy in this study is based on a collection from Mungia (Bizkaia) on damp soil under Quercus robur. The other macroscopic photograph corresponds to a collection from Zigoitia (Álava) on a forest track edge.
